Glasgow roads closed after woman dies from 'serious injuries' in estate

TWO Glasgow roads have been closed after a woman died following being found with serious injuries in a city centre housing estate.

Police taped off multiple blocks of flats near Dobbies Loan Place and St Mungo Avenue in the city's Townhead area on Tuesday, October 29.

Officers revealed they were called to a report of an alleged disturbance in the area shortly before 1pm.

Sadly, she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Due to the incident, Glasgow City Council has now revealed two roads in the area have been shut while police carry out investigation work.

St James Road has been closed from Stirling Road to St Mungo Avenue, while St Mungo Avenue has been shut from Grafton Place to Taylor Place.

The local authority is urging drivers to "avoid the area" and seek an alternative route.

They also said further information will be released when available.

In an image shared with the Glasgow Times on Tuesday, several ambulances were pictured on the scene before a huge cordon was erected in the area.

Meanwhile, police were spotted standing guard at the scene which spans the flats on St Mungo Avenue, the St Mungo Avenue playground, and the Dobbies Loan Place high-rise flats nearby.

A large patch of grass near the Townhead shops had also been sealed off and detectives were spotted carrying out investigations.
