A Glasgow restaurant is set to open its first Edinburgh venue just in time for summer.
Opening on Lothian Road on 12 June, Chaakoo Bombay Café will serve a menu of small plates inspired by Mumbai and Iranian cuisine.
Chaakoo’s launch follows a £400,000 investment and should create more than 50 new jobs in the city.
Operations Manager Iain Gallie said: “We’re excited to be bringing another restaurant to the scene on Lothian Road.
“Our sister venue, Topolabamba, was one of the first to kick start the buzzing foodie scene here and now the area has become a hotspot of brilliant bars and restaurants, and Chaakoo will bring another great choice to the table.”
The first Chaakoo was opened on St Vincent Street in 2016, with a second premises coming in 2019 in Glasgow’s west end.
Head chef Rohit Benjwal, said: “Every curry is freshly made in batches from scratch - it’s as close to authentic as you’re going to get.
“Our chef Mani has worked all over the world and he draws flavour inspiration from his travels that customers experience in our dishes.”
Like its sister restaurants in Glasgow, Chaakoo Edinburgh will also be open for takeaway.
Hunky Dory Dining Group started in Glasgow with Topolabamba in 2016 and opened a second on Lothian Road. It also owns Panang, a small plates Thai restaurant in Glasgow city centre.
