With the worsening cost of the living crisis hitting household budgets hard, many feel that purchasing property is out of reach.
While houses and flats are far cheaper than in Edinburgh, buying a home is still a massive commitment that many simply can't afford.
By being smarter about where you look, though, your budget might stretch further than you realise as house prices vary depending on which part of the city you are in.

To find out where in Glasgow you can buy the cheapest family home, we took a look at each neighbourhood on Rightmove.
Here is a rundown of the most affordable 3-bedroom homes currently on the market in each area of Glasgow.
City Centre
St. Mungo Avenue, Townhead, £175,000
Type of property: Flat
Number of bathrooms: 1
The most expensive property on this list lies in the city centre. It might not be mind-blowing from the outside, but this flat comes with a spacious and bright living room and a modern kitchen. It's pretty much a blank canvas, so could easily be transformed into the perfect family home.
What the listing says: "With the exceptional space and convenient ground floor elevation, this new-to-market property is a perfect purchase -ideal for a family market, student buy or high yield BTL proposition in an upgraded building. An exceptionally central and spacious 3-bedroom flat (with residents' parking) is located conveniently on the ground floor and near all amenities- particularly with Strathclyde and Caledonian Universities just to hand."

Unlike the Townshead property, this flat already has its own stamp on it — which could either be a good or a bad thing depending on your taste. One advantage it does have over the last home is that it comes with two bathrooms — not to mention it's £85,000 cheaper.
What the listing says: "Offering fabulous open views over the surrounding area is this spacious 3 bedroom duplex (maisonette) which occupies the upper 2 (2nd and 3rd floors) levels of this development with the additional benefit of having no adjoining walls to any other apartments."

West End
Flat 1/2, 4 Ferryden Court, £95,000
Type of property: Flat
Number of bathrooms: 1
While some of the current wallpaper choices are questionable, other than that this flat is pretty much empty furniture-wise, so it should be easy to visualise how all of your belongings would fit in. The highlight of the property is its bright and airy kitchen, with a window overlooking greenery.
What the listing says: "Located within a sought after development is this three bedroom apartment. Offering excellent potential, the property is exceptionally well-proportioned, with a bright and spacious feel throughout. Ideally located, the property would be an excellent first home, or could be a very attractive buy to let or investment property."

North
6 Invershiel Road, £85,000

Last and — considering it's the cheapest home here — certainly not least is this flat in the Summerston. While once again some of the current decor is questionable, there is a lot of potential here to convert this into an ideal family home, and for just £85,000 that's not bad at all.
