Glasgow police release CCTV image of 'fisherman' after River Kelvin attack left victim scarred

Police have issued a CCTV appeal following a serious assault which took place on the River Kelvin.

Officers have released an image of a man they believe may hold information which could assist in relation to the attack, which resulted in scarring to a man who required hospital treatment.

The incident occurred close to the River Kelvin, behind Garscube Sports Complex in the Maryhill area, at around 3pm on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

The man is described as white with a medium build, between 50 and 60-years-old, 5ft 6, with slightly grey hair. He was wearing dark trousers, a white t-shirt, light-coloured fishing gilet and a light-coloured bucket hat.

Detective Constable Rachel Fulton, from Greater Glasgow CID, said: “I am urging the man in this image, or anyone who has information regarding his identity, to please contact police.

“Enquiries to trace the person responsible for this attack are ongoing and we continue to appeal for help from the public. Officers can be contacted via 101, quoting reference number 1946 of Thursday, 28 April, 2022.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
