Glasgow police probe as Cathcart attempted robbery leaves shopworker shaken

Detectives in Glasgow are appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a shop in Cathcart.

The incident happened around 5.40pm yesterday (March 12) when a man entered Shop Local, on Clarkston Road, and threatened the shop staff and demanded money.

When staff refused, the suspect, who claimed to have a weapon, made off empty handed.

The man working in the shop was uninjured but shaken as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 7in tall, of thin build and aged between 25 and 26-years-old.

He was wearing a blue tracksuit with hood up and black face mask.

Detective Constable Natalie Timothy, of the Robbery Unit at Govan Police Office, said: "We are currently carrying out enquiries in the area and gathering CCTV footage to trace the man responsible.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has dash-cam footage which may assist our investigation, to contact officers via 101 quoting reference number 2766 of Saturday, 12 March, 2022.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
