Police are hunting a thug who assaulted a stranger on Buchanan Street in broad daylight.
The 41-year-old victim was walking with a friend around 3pm on March 3 when he was verbally abused by the man and then seriously assaulted.
The suspect, who was carrying a puppy at the time, then ran off Buchanan Street towards the Royal Concert Hall.
The victim and his friend were helped by people at the scene and made their way to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the 'despicable and utterly unprovoked attack' to get in touch with them.
The suspect is described as white, with a stocky build, bald head, and in his 40s. He was wearing dark clothing and was carrying a tan-coloured puppy. He was also in the company of a female.
Detective Inspector Stuart Gillies said: “This has been a despicable and utterly unprovoked attack on a man visiting the city centre. This is not acceptable behaviour and we are determined to locate the man responsible.
"I know there were lots of people milling about in Buchanan Street yesterday and I am appealing to them to get in touch with us. We cannot allow these people to get away with such violence.
"If you saw anything that you think will help us, please get in touch, even if you’re not sure if it’s relevant, let us be the judge and pass it on.”
