The Glasgow Pavilion Theatre have confirmed sale talks with Ambassador Theatre Group (AGT) have stopped.
Iain Gordon, theatre manager, made the statement on the Pavilion’s Facebook page yesterday - confirming that the sale will not be made, and all future show tickets will be valid. He also thanked customers for ‘continued support’, with tickets now on sale for shows throughout the year.
Despite being at an ‘advanced stage’ ATG, who currently run the King’s Theatre and Theatre Royal in Glasgow, will no longer be acquiring the Pavilion - a sale believed to sit at £3.9 million.

Iain stated in his post: “We would like to confirm that no further discussions are taking place with ATG (Ambassador Theatre Group) about a potential sale of the Pavilion Theatre.
“A lot of our customers have repeatedly asked us during the past months ‘If I book for future shows will my tickets be valid?’ This was never in question, and any deal made would have ensured that all tickets and shows booked would have remained valid.
“Tickets are now on sale for shows throughout this year and beyond, and as always you have the security that these tickets will be valid for all performances in the future.
“We would like to thank our loyal customers far and wide for their continual support which has helped make this year’s Panto season one of the most memorable and successful that we have had at the Theatre. If you haven’t already booked, watch out for our final week special offers.
“Happy New Year to everyone and here’s to the future.”
Theatre go-ers were quick to put their support forward, with comments flooding in on the Facebook post. Anne Greig commented: “Great news, and the Panto has been great - I went twice, might even go again.”
Ryan Dunbar added: “Personally, I think the sale to ATG would have been a bad move.
“They already operate two of the theatres in the city. The pavilion is the last remaining true variety music hall left in Glasgow; it would have been a pity turning it into a corporate machine - but it’s good news that the old lady of Renfield Street is going nowhere.”
Veronica McNee wrote: “Fabulous news, best theatre in Scotland and beyond.”
Lesley Strain added: “Fabulous news, couldn't bear the thought of our beloved theatre being sold because it's just Glasgow through and through.
“Iain keep up the amazing work, you and your staff are doing it's just pure magic.
Panto was great as always last week when I was there, the Glasgow banter is phenomenal.”
