A woman who underwent a life-saving operation was left stunned when her mum had the same surgery by the same surgeon - just three weeks later.
Allie Carson-McGeary, 26, was "terrified" when she called her mum Helen Anderson, 53, to tell her she had a four centimetre lump on her thyroid and was waiting for a biopsy.
During the call, Helen, a primary school teacher revealed that she too was on the waiting list, after finding a similar lump. The mother-daughter duo had their biopsies a day apart, but only Allie's came back as cancerous.
