Humza Yousaf has been confirmed as First Minister of Scotland this afternoon following a vote in Holyrood.
The MSP for Glasgow Pollok was announced as the new leader of the SNP yesterday. He is the first Muslim First Minister, first person from the south Asian community, and youngest to win the job at the age of 37 after taking over from Nicola Sturgeon.
He will next be sworn in as First Minister at the Court of Session in Edinburgh tomorrow, and then on Thursday he will face rival party leaders in his opening First Minister's Questions.

The SNP leader, who has been the Health Secretary since 2021, recorded a narrow victory over Kate Forbes once second preference votes were taken into account after Ash Regan was eliminated from the contest in the first round of voting.
He failed to win a majority in the first round, but won 52.1% after second preference votes from Ms Regan were redistributed. Ms Forbes came second with 47.9% of votes when second preferences were included.
Following his election as SNP leader, Mr Yousaf said: "It is hard for me to find the words to describe just how honoured I am to be entrusted by our membership of the SNP to be the party's next leader and to be on the cusp of being our country's next First Minister."
Nicola Sturgeon announced in February that she would resign as First Minister after more than eight years in the job once her successor had been chosen.
