Glasgow Mexican bar El Jefe's to return with Finnieston site opening next month

A popular Mexican bar that made its mark on the west end before closing down earlier this year will soon return - at a new site in Finnieston.

As we reported in February, El Jefe's had been a huge hit with Glaswegians after first playing host to Mariachi bands while dishing out tequila shots and cocktails back in November 2021.

Then based at the former Crafty Pig pub at 508 Great Western Road, now occupied by The Bakehouse, El Jefe's announced they'd be continuing the party elsewhere after vacating the premises at the end of March.

Earning itself a series of rave reviews for the likes of its tacos and Mexican classics, the Tequila y Taqueria has been self-described as 'Glasgow's answer to all things Mexican'.

And their latest social media posts have confirmed they are re-opening early next month, at the former Mora Bar and Kitchen on Argyle Street.

Tequila shots will be back on the menu at the popular Mexican (Instagram @el.jefes_)

The team has announced: "EL JEFE IS BACK. Better than ever. Our new home is gonna blow ya socks off.

"Opening early August!

"Who’s excited for tacos & TEQUILAAAAAAAAA."

Pictures and videos shared on Instagram show work underway at the site which is located between Derby and Gray Street at 1166 - 1170 Argyle Street.

We'll be bringing you all the updates on El Jefe's latest move as soon as we have it and have reached out to the owners for more info.

In the meantime, you can follow the Mexican restaurant on Instagram here.
