A Glasgow man who won a luxury £2.5million home in an online raffle is putting the property up for sale - with ten per cent added onto the price tag. Widower Grant Carson entered the prize draw earlier this year and scooped the five-bedroom country mansion in the Lake District, Cumbria.
The 58-year-old has worked in the charity sector for 27 years and said winning the Omaze Million Pound draw in January, which also came with £100,000 cash, offered him more 'security'. But now appears to have had a change of heart, with the swanky property on the market for £2.75million.
Estate agents Hackney & Leigh describe it as "a superb country home set in eight acres of meadow, pasture land and gardens, and its elevated location gives the most delightful southerly and westerly views over the surrounding area".
The farmhouse comes with a scenic garden, extended patio area and a backdrop of the wild hay meadows and rolling hills. The property was previously renovated but retained its original features including stone flags in the sitting room and window seats offering picturesque views down into the valley.
The open-plan kitchen and dining area has a Cumbrian oak floor and the master bedroom has triple-aspect windows. The ensuite bathroom boasts twin wash basins, a freestanding tub with shower and adjoining dressing room. The property also has a guest suite with vaulted ceilings and its own kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living space.
In January, Grant said: "I've never really won anything before this, but now I might be one of the luckiest men in Scotland. I've just left my old job helping disabled people across Glasgow, which I had done for 27 years, so starting out as a freelance consultant was a big change.
"But this win has given me a financial security I'd never dreamed of, which means I can focus on my new venture helping organisations to meet the needs of disabled customers, with a lot less pressure."
MailOnline reports James Oakes, Chief International Officer at Omaze, said: 'We're absolutely delighted Grant won the Lake District House Draw - and was able to contribute to a fantastic £850,000 raise for Dogs Trust in the process. As is the case for all of our winners, they are entirely free to sell, rent or live in their new homes.
"Now he has enjoyed the house for six months and decided to put it on the market, we wish Grant all the very best in the next exciting chapter of his life, as he walks away a cash millionaire.
"Omaze is a win-win for both charities and entrants. By offering incredible prizes, like this beautiful house in the heart of the Lake District, we give people the chance to win the house of their dreams, while also introducing charities to audiences they wouldn't usually be able to reach.
"This method of fundraising is helping to make a big difference: we've now raised £15,400,000 for good causes across the UK."
