Drivers are facing at least another 16 months of roadworks on the M8.
The slip road at Charing Cross is likely to remain shut until November 2023 as engineers continue to carry out repairs on 50-year-old concrete pillars supporting the motorway. The works have been ongoing since last year causing long queues for frustrated commuters.
Despite offering an estimated date for reopening the slip, Amey, admits that it will not mark the end to the project with a permanent repair taking up to four years, the Scottish Daily Express reports.

A spokesman for the firm carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland said: "We appreciate the public's patience and understanding. The work to install high-level temporary supports (props) at M8 Woodside Viaducts between Junctions 16 to 17 is progressing to programme.
"The bridge propping will allow permanent repair of the 50-year-old structures to take place. Based on current projections the propping work is expected to be complete by November 2023.
"Once propped the on and off slip lane restrictions on the M8 can be removed. These timings follow current estimates of the condition of the viaducts and on the issues identified to date. Future investigations may require changes to the programme, and permanent repair designs may be reviewed if further exposure of the structures indicates more maintenance is needed.
"Temporary traffic management and speed restrictions remain in place on the M8 Woodside Viaducts, and on the A804 Phoenix Road below the bridge to ensure the safety of road workers and the travelling public. We appreciate the continued patience and understanding of the community and the travelling public while this essential maintenance is taking place."
