Glasgow M8 car fire brings traffic to standstill as 'fireball' closes motorway

M8 Traffic Scotland Harthill

Motorists using the M8 have been met with disruption after the M8 was forced to close due to a vehicle fire.

Traffic Scotland alerted road users to the fire on the M8 eastbound between Junction 6A (Newhouse / Airdrie) and Junction 5 (Shotts/ Harthill) around 10:25am this morning.

All traffic was held briefly before the motorway reopened to traffic around 10 minutes later.
