Glasgow law firm appoints new chief executive

Miller Samuel Hill Brown has appointed head of private client Edward Laverty as its new chief executive.

He joined the Glasgow-based law firm as a property assistant, working his way up to partner, where he has stayed for more than 30 years.

Laverty commented: “The firm saw significant growth during the pandemic thanks to the focussed implementation of our strategic plan and strong financial management.

“I have been pleased to be a part of that delivery and very much look forward to working with my fellow partners and colleagues to ensure this growth continues and to ensure that we deliver the highest quality of legal advice to our clients.”

The appointment formalises his role in driving and implementing Miller Samuel Hill Brown’s strategic growth plan.

Chair Marie Macdonald commented: “We are lucky to have seen the benefit of sound strategic implementation spearheaded by Edward over the last few years.

“I welcome him in his new role in which I am sure he will continue to achieve great success for the firm.

“This, along with our growing number of talented lawyers and paralegals puts us on a very strong platform going forward in consistently challenging times.”

Laverty, who was appointed to his new role yesterday, has been involved in the acquisition of development sites, the purchase of large property portfolios and rural and country estates.

He also deals with the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, trusts and wealth management issues.
