Sir Tom Hunter has issued thanks to the Kiltwalkers at last week’s Glasgow event, who helped to raised a record breaking sum.
Participants raised £2.7m and The Hunter Foundation provided a top up of 50%, amounting to £1.35m and boosting the final total to £4.05m, which is now on its way to 685 Scottish charities.
Over the last six years, the mass participation charity event has now raised more than £33m for nearly 3,000 charities across the country.
Hunter wrote to fundraisers, stating: “Your own charity will be in touch to thank you for your generosity, but I also want to tell you personally how much I appreciate everything you achieved by wearing a bit of tartan and setting out in the sunshine to do something very special for your chosen charity.”
He also confirmed that the next Glasgow Kiltwalk would be held on 30 April 2023.
Registration is already open for the next Kiltwalk taking place in Aberdeen on 29 May, then St Andrews to Dundee on 21 August and Edinburgh on 18 September.
There will also be a Virtual Kiltwalk weekend from 7 to 9 October.
Businesses supporting the Kiltwalk include the Royal Bank of Scotland and Arnold Clark as headline sponsors, Johnston Carmichael as a gold sponsor, Trespass supplying uniforms for volunteers and event day staff, Bullet Express providing logistics, the STV Children's Appeal as grant making partner, Lidl providing snacks, along with Tunnocks donating chocolate bars and AG Barr giving Strathmore water.
