Glasgow Jet2 flight makes emergency diversion after passenger requires medical attention

A Scots flight has been forced to make an unexpected landing after a mid-air emergency was declared onboard. The Jet2 jet was heading from Mallorca in Spain to Glasgow when a 7700 alert was issued over two hours into the three-hour flight.

Flightrader24 shows the jet which is identified as LS190, leaving the popular holiday island at around 11:57.

Flight path shows it performing two "go-arounds" in the skies over Manchester before a rapid descent and landing at the airport at 1.45 pm.

A 7700 Squawk code is the signal used by airlines when there is an emergency incident which requires ground assistance but the plane is already in the air.

The condition of the passenger is currently unknown.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: "The aircraft diverted to Manchester Airport due to a customer requiring medical attention."
