Glasgow gang in 'shockingly violent' attack on stranger walking through park

Police are hunting a gang of youths who subjected a stranger to a 'shockingly violent' attack in Govanhill.

The 56-year-old victim was walking through Govanhill Park around 11.50pm on Friday when he was set upon by the group.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains. His condition is currently unknown.

Detectives are now appealing for anyone with information on the attack to come forward.

They are also appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the group who 'made a lot of noise' during the attack and whilst leaving the park to come forward.

Detective Constable Glenn Clark, from Cathcart CID, said: “This was a shockingly violent and unprovoked attack and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify and trace the youths responsible.

“We are asking anyone with information, or who may have seen anything in the area around the time of the incident, to please come forward.

“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0047 of 11 March, 2023. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
