A popular Drumchapel takeaway has announced they’ll be closing their doors for the last time.
Stefano’s has been serving for over two decades, though say the current cost of living crisis has made it impossible to continue operating. With gas and electric bills continuing to rise, the chippy made the announcement on social media this week.
It is unclear whether another owner will take over the business, or if the building will be used for a new venture.

In a post on their Facebook page, Stefano’s said: “As you all know, the cost of living has increased dramatically - especially gas and electricity have been the hardest.
“This is having a huge impact on businesses. Unfortunately we have tried to make it work and it’s just not working.
“So, yesterday - September 25, was the last working day of (Jamie - the tall guy - guy from the chippy whatever you call him) running Stefano’s. It’s not a decision that came easy but unfortunately it has come to this.
“Would like to thank all regular and new customers that have supported the shop over the years and all the staff that have been there throughout. Wish whoever takes the chippy on for their next adventure good luck.
“We don’t know when the shop will be open again or when someone is going to take over.”
Locals were quick to respond to the post, with many giving messages of sadness on the chippy’s closure.
Sharon Lindsay said: “So sad, this was my son's first ever job. Worked in this chippy back about 18 years ago.”
Hugh O’Neill was in agreement: “Worked there for about six years. Best fish supper on earth.
“Best of luck to yourself and staff in whatever you do now.”
The closure comes shortly after Southside chip shop Guido’s met a similar fate, closing due to rising costs and falling foot traffic.
