Glasgow fans left 'gutted' after Guns N' Roses cancel show due to illness

Glasgow gig-goers have been dealt another blow following the news that Guns N' Roses will no longer be playing their headline show this evening.

It was announced that the long-awaited show in the city would be postponed due to illness. Ticket holders will instead have to wait for a rescheduled date for the American rock band to return to the city.

The cancellation comes just days after Red Hot Chili Peppers pulled out of their show at Bellahouston Park for the same reason and with little notice for fans.

Those who had tickets for the show have been left frustrated and out of pocket following the news.

One fan who was heading along said: "It's likely not band's fault but this is annoying. We can't cancel / get refund on hotel so looks like we're heading to Glasgow regardless. Hope band member(s) will be fine. Very strange that's RHCP and GnR in a matter of days" while another added, "I, like 1000’s others, have a hotel booked which I can’t cancel cause it’s too short notice."

Another added: "Another Glasgow concert aborted because of illness [the other in Bellahouston]. The immediate questions; how much has this cost Glasgow with no return, how much has this cost Glasgow traders and why could they not get someone else [maybe a local band or bands] to step in and still return the original group at a later date. Another mess all within about two weeks."

One posted: "This is the third time it’s been postponed I totally appreciate that health comes first, it you can’t even get to speak to anyone now cos they’ve shut their call centres."

Another said: "My bestie is travelling up from England for this, hotel etc booked and cant get refund or reschedule, gutted....We're gonna head out into Glasgow anyway in our GnR garb and find us a karaoke bar and sing our own."

One commenter said: "Tell illness to the likes of the octogenarian Rolling Stones and Mr McCartney, bunch of American lightweights, get some night nurse down you and rock on."

Following the news, fans suggested that there were signs that lead singer Axl Rose would not make the Glasgow date.

A fan who had seen them in London on Saturday said: "To be fair Axl's voice was shot. He said himself he wasn't 100%. But I'm still p#ssed off."

Another commented: "It seems Axl's voice isn't ok, on Saturday in London he kinda blew it but it's ok-ish, if you're not used to UK weather you're gonna be prone to get sick really fast."

Another said: "Take a look at the info at the bottom of set list website for the Tottenham show. He cut the main songs out of the show due to voice issues and I wasn't convinced three days was going to be enough to fix it."

There has yet to be an update on when the rescheduled show will be.
