Community empowerment has been the focus of the four elected members of the Anderston/City and Yorkhill ward over the past five years.
The area has benefited from more than £300,000 funding which has been awarded to 198 community projects ranging from playground upgrades and outdoor classrooms to arts and music programmes and community green space initiatives.
There are ten hopeful candidates campaigning for votes in next month’s election and the four elected will be expected to continue the hard work already benefiting the community.

The ward is made up of Glasgow City Centre, and Merchant City contains many office and retail premises but also some residential buildings.
It also includes the more heavily populated areas of Cowcaddens, Garnethill and Townhead north of the city centre, along with the campuses of both the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University, with the M8 motorway being the northern boundary and the eastern side of High Street.
An ongoing issue affecting the ward is the closure of the Anderston train station which is to remain closed until June. The city centre station has been closed since March 13 as part of the ongoing eight-week closure of the Argyle line to deliver a £32m investment in repairing and renewing tunnels, bridges and tracks between Rutherglen and Exhibition Centre.
While the Argyle line re-opens when normal services resume on May 8, trains will not stop at Anderston until June 5.
2017 Results
The last local government election saw a 32.4% voter turnout with 6010 valid ballot papers and 172 rejected papers.
The first preference votes received by each of the elected candidates was:
Eva Bolandar - SNP - 1591 votes
Philip Braat - Glasgow Labour - 1328 votes
Christy Mearns - Scottish Green Party 1101 votes
Angus Millar - SNP - 775 votes
2022 Candidates
Next month will see councillor Eva Bolandar, Lord Provost Philip Braat, Depute Lord Provost Christy Mearns and councillor Angus Millar campaign to keep their seats.
Councillor Braat has been serving as a councillor in the Anderston/City/Yorkhill ward since 2007. He was appointed Depute Lord Provost in 2017 and became Lord Provost in 2020 when councillor Eva Bolandar was forced to resign from the role following an expenses row when it was revealed she spent £8000 of taxpayer money on shoes, hats and haircuts.
In May last year Baillie Christy Mearns of the Green group was elected as Depute Lord Provost.
