Glasgow driver warns other motorists to be vigilant after white Land Rover stolen

A Glasgow driver is warning other motorists to be vigilant after her white Land Rover was stolen from her home.

Marie, from Jordanhill, was shocked when she looked outside her house late on Friday night and she couldn't spot her car.

After a frantic search for the motor the worried driver phoned police.

She told Glasgow Live: "We went to bed at about 10.30pm and I was shutting the curtains in the spare room.

"It was then I noticed the car wasn't outside the house. I called 101 straight away and they asked if there was a tracker on it.

"We located where we thought the car was but when the police got there they found the kid's bikes launched to the side of the road and my son's golf club bag.

"However, there was still no car. Throughout the course of the night they eventually found my car in a car park between Bearsden and Milngavie.

"They obviously knew what they were doing because they disabled the tracker. I was told by a neighbour's family member that they saw my car driving erratically and it was followed by a black car.

"The police still have the car and I don't know if there has been any damage."

The motorist had a gut feeling that her vehicle would be targeted by thieves.

She even tried some preventative measures to ensure her car would be safe, however, this didn't deter the criminals from nabbing the motor.

The driver said: "I've been telling my husband that I had a feeling that the car was going to be stolen.

"He bought me those signal-blocking pouches for my keys, which I religiously use. I was told that they must have used a diagnostics tool attached to the engine.

"I did everything I possibly could to protect the car."

Marie is now going to try some more old-fashioned methods to make sure her car isn't stolen again.

She said: "One of the officers told me to get one of the old-school steering wheel locks as a deterrent.

"Another person told me to get airtags and put them on the car.

"I'm so lucky we had that tracker because it meant we knew the area where the car was.

"I'm just glad the car has been found."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of the theft of a car from a property on Seggielea Road, Glasgow around 12.05am on Saturday, 6 May, 2023.

“The vehicle was recovered a short time later.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
