If you grew up with a pet, you'll know just what its like to have a four legged furry friend run around the house - and it's pretty darn cute.
However if you never had one growing up, as soon as you move out it may be a top priority.
And with it now being Pet Appreciation Week which runs from June 5 until the 11th, what better time than to start looking at what dog you can give a forever home to?

Across Glasgow and the surrounding area, there are five dogs we have selected in the hopes someone will want to love them and care for them as well as cater to their specific needs.
So if you want to have a new dog as part of the family, here's just some of the furry friends that need a forever home...
Ellie
15 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Ellie is looking for someone who can offer her companionship all day as she doesn’t like to be left alone.
Dog's Trust says she is a very affectionate girl who adores attention and would benefit from a quiet home where she can put her paws up and relax.
However despite her age, she is fit and active and of an evening when you are relaxing, she especially enjoys neck scratches and snuggling in beside you.
Ellie needs careful introductions to other dogs and would be best as the only pet in the home as she can also not live with cats.

Wallace
4 year old Border Collie
Wallace is said to be a collie enthusiasts dream with his energetic and enthusiastic personality.
He is very intelligent and he needs an owner who is just as switched on as he is.
Wallace will benefit from an adult only environment where there are no visiting kids as well as being the only pet in the home.
Once settled he can be left alone for up to four hours and would benefit to form a bond with his owners before going home.

Marco
Greyhound
Marco is said to be a sweet soul who came into the care of Dog's Trust after retiring from a life of racing.
He loves his walks and would like if his humans could be around for most of the day to help him settle into home life.
Because Marco has spent all of his life in kennels, he will need to go home to a committed and patient family who are happy to work on his basic training.
Marco can go to a home with children aged 12 and over and although he loves socialising, he will have to be the only pet in the house and cannot live with another dog or cats.

Jess
Beagle
This little girl loves to explore and whilst she loves to be independent at first, once she forms a bond with you it will be for life.
Jess is an intelligent and active girl who is looking for owners that have experience with similar breeds.
Jess would benefit from living in a home with adults of 18 years and over with no visiting children. She prefers to have her own space at times - more so when she is enjoying some treats or chews.
She needs to be the only pet in the home to ensure she gets all the time and attention to settle and continue with her training.
Jess is housetrained and can be left for a couple of hours once she has found her feet. Initially she is likely to investigate everything new but once she has had a chance to take it all in she is not so easily distracted by her surroundings.

Mary
American Bulldog
Mary is looking for an owner who will happily work on her training as she is deaf.
She is said to be an affectionate girl who was very underweight when she originally arrived to the Dog's Trust and has since flourished into a super friendly girl who loves attention.
She is an active girl who enjoys walks where she can explore lots of new sights & smells and because she is deaf, she will need to be kept on lead when out in public.
Mary can live with children aged 14 years and above, this does include visiting. She will need to be the only pet in the home so that she can get all the love and attention she deserves.
