A Glasgow couple recently got married at a popular crazy golf venue just outside the city centre, as they say 'traditional venues' had a two year wait.
Ellis and Niall McCann tied the knot at Fore Play Crazy Golf in Kinning Park on Thursday, June 2, as they wanted a more fun and relaxed big day, after two years of lockdowns.
The venue's cocktail garden was transformed into a magical space filled with disco balls, pampas grass, and a crochet hanging sketched with the words “Till Death Do Us Party” across the top for the ceremony, whilst inside kept the par-tee going for guests with plenty of drinks and rounds of crazy golf.

The couple told Glasgow Live: "Believe it or not, neither of us are big golfers! However, when it came to looking for a wedding venue our immediate thought was to think outside of the box. Although we liked the look of the more traditional venues, we don’t take ourselves too seriously and really wanted our wedding to reflect that.
"We wanted the day to be full of fun and laughter – basically a big party for us, our friends and family.
"We’re not sure which of us initially came up with the idea, but as soon as Fore Play was suggested as a wedding venue, we were both on board immediately. All that was left to do was convince our parents – and Fore Play!"
The couple's wedding was the first the crazy golf venue had ever hosted, but Ellis and Niall sang staff's praises and said that the day was even more amazing than they could have imagined.
Ellis said: "Considering this was the first ever wedding Fore Play had hosted and also the first wedding we had ever planned, we expected there to be some small hiccups along the way. But we couldn’t believe how smoothly the day actually went.
"Both during the planning stage and on the day itself, the Fore Play Team could not have done a better job. They were so accommodating and welcoming to everyone.
"It really felt like they were as much part of our day as our guests and even joined in with the dancing and bouquet toss!"
The fun-loving couple had looked at more traditional venues but thought the two year wait was too much, as well as fearing that they would be too restricted in planning how their big day would go. They didn't stop at crazy golf either, popping in for some roller-skating next door too.
They said: "When we initially looked at the more traditional wedding venues, a lot seemed to be quite restrictive with what you could do and how your day would run. We found that by choosing somewhere that is not specifically for weddings, it meant we were given a lot more freedom to design a day that was exactly what we wanted, no matter how mad our ideas were!
"Another bonus to having our wedding at Fore Play meant we were able to get our wedding photos taken at RollerStop, the roller disco next door. Ellis skating around in her wedding dress made for some great bloopers in the wedding video!"
The couple even managed to come up with an extra special way for their rings to be delivered down the aisle to them, with the help of each of their dads.
Niall said: "Because our venue allowed us to have full control over how the ceremony and reception ran, there were so many aspects to our wedding that were tailored to us and differed from traditional weddings.
"Although, probably the single biggest difference between our wedding and a more traditional one was our ring bearers. Ellis created golf ball ring holders so that both our dads could putt our rings down the aisle to us.
"Luckily we picked the only two people in the wedding party remotely good at golf, so we didn’t have to go looking in the rough!"
And it wasn't just the happy couple who enjoyed their day - guests had a great time at the funky venue, and loved the more relaxed plan of the unusual wedding.
The couple added: "In the lead up to the big day, many of our guests were unsure about what to expect from such a non-traditional wedding venue. However we think, if it’s even possible, they might have enjoyed it more than us.
"It’s not every wedding that you get to play a full round of crazy golf, stuff your face with pizza and churros, then end the night with an embarrassing rendition of Sweet Caroline on the karaoke!
"It’s now been a couple of months since the wedding and we still have guests telling us how brilliant a day it was and that it’s definitely a wedding they will never forget."
Christian O’Brien, Head of Operations at Fore Play Crazy Golf helped the happy couple pull the big day off and said: "Ellis and Niall's wedding was something incredibly different for all of the staff at our Glasgow venue and we're really proud of what we managed to pull off.
"We transformed our cocktail garden into a magical space for the ceremony and kept the party going with crazy golf and drinks indoors. This was Fore Play's first ever wedding and we're so glad it was a huge success for a lovely couple and that we were able to take some of the stress out of their day.
"From checking the happy couple managed to get some food and drink and take a break, to finding the bride's lost earring - we did it all and would like to give our staff a huge shoutout for going above and beyond.
"Congrats again to the happy couple - see you back at Fore Play for a special first anniversary tee off!"
