Glasgow councillors have expressed their condolences to the family of a French student who died after a traffic collision on a busy road - as they highlighted the importance of rolling out 20mph zone in the city.
Cyclist Emma Newman, 22, from Moulineaux in Paris was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after she was involved in a collision with a lorry in the city centre on Broomielaw at the King George Bridge on Friday morning. She passed away a short time later.
During a meeting of the city's environment and liveable neighbourhoods committee on Tuesday to discuss the long-planned roll-out of 20mph speed limits, Councillor Jon Molyneux was the first to pay tribute to the student.
