Glasgow City Council set up 62 litter picking hubs for public to help keep city clean

Over sixty litter picking hubs have been set up across the city to enable members of the public to do their bit to keep the city tidy.

The hubs, which have been installed in parks, schools, and at branches of Costa Coffee, are packed with items including litter pickers, disposable gloves, high-visibility vests, bag hoops, refuse bags, and disinfectant wipes.

The equipment can be used by anyone keen to do a litter pick in their local area and can be found inside the bespoke, lockable storage units. The council uplifts the bags of litter collected by the volunteers for recycling and disposal.

The hubs are jointly funded by Glasgow City Council, Keep Scotland Beautiful and McDonald's.

Local community groups manage the clean-up equipment and storage units and volunteers can request access to the equipment by emailing them. The locations of all the hubs and information on how to access the equipment can be found on an interactive map on the council's website.

The council shared on social media on Wednesday that there are now 62 of the litter picking hubs available across the city.
