Glasgow city centre incident sees man arrested after woman hit by bus

A woman has been left seriously injured after being hit by a bus in Glasgow city centre.

The 59-year-old was struck by the vehicle on Hope Street at its junction with Sauchiehall Street around 2.30pm on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and she was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. Her injuries have been described as serious.

Police locked down the busy street while they carried out investigations into the incident.

A 54-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.30pm on Thursday, November 10, police were called to a report of a woman struck by a bus on Hope Street at the junction with Sauchiehall Street.

“A 59-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

"A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.”
