A caretaker was sacked without any notice after 20 years in his job.
An employment tribunal has ordered his former employer to stump up £8,980 after hearing the man, known only as Mr A Rodgers, was dismissed when the company lost the contract for the building where he worked.
The chain of events unfolded when the firm that he worked for was taken over by Glasgow's Eyekon Services Ltd.

The court heard Mr Rodgers started working for the firm's predecessor in June 2002 and his employment changed when the firm changed hands.
He worked 37.5hours per week as a cleaner and caretaker with a take home pay of £1,363 when he was fired with immediate effect on September 9 last year.
The tribunal ruled that Mr Rodgers had been unfairly dismissed as there was no consultation or discussion in advance of his dismissal.
They ruled that Eyekon made no attempt to engage with him or considered alternatives.
A written statement published this week by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service explained: "His dismissal was unfair. There was no evidence that following a fair procedure would have resulted in his dismissal occurring in any event, or within any period thereafter, the claimant’s job continuing to exist."
Awarding compensation to Mr Rodgers, the tribunal took account a 10 week period where he was without work before securing a new job.
