A new foot and cycle bridge connecting communities in the north of Glasgow has finally been completed with the opening to be celebrated with a lighting spectacle this weekend.
Stockingfield Bridge, built over the Forth & Clyde Canal, opened to users for the first time earlier this month and has been welcomed by three communities, Ruchill, Maryhill, and Gilshochill, with who it has reconnected for the first time since 1790.
The £14m active travel bridge provides important new linkage between the communities and also opens up routes to leisure and employment opportunities in the west end and city centre.
