Glasgow-bound bus crashes into garden wall causing debris and damage on pavement

A bus which was headed towards Glasgow this morning came to an abrupt stop after crashing into a row of gardens and causing damage to the wall outside a property.

The Stagecoach X36 service smashed into a property 25 miles away from Glasgow as it made its way towards the city.

It's understood that a garden wall was damaged in the incident but nobody was injured, the Daily Record reports.

It is not known how many, if any, passengers were travelling on the bus at the time. Police Scotland have confirmed a 51-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.

Debris can be seen on the pavement, and a fence seems to have been flattened by the impact.

The witness told the Record: "The bus was empty when I passed and it didn't look like there had been ambulances or paramedics in attendance."

Traffic is believed to be flowing freely in the area, with recovery work already underway to remove the damaged bus from the site.

Stagecoach West Scotland said in a Tweet: "Service update, sorry the X36 from Dalry to Glasgow will not operate. The bus has broken down, the next one will be at 10:32." The firm has been contacted for further comment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.45am on Wednesday, 4 January, police attended a one vehicle road crash involving a bus on Braehead, Dalry. A 51-year-old man is subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for road traffic offences."
