Blocked drains in Glasgow are causing increasing concerns for residents as they overflow into back courts in Pollokshields during heavy rain.
The problem is affecting Queens Square and the main bus stop to Strathbungo at the corner of Pollokshaws Road and Nithsdale Drive, a meeting heard.
Speaking at today's Pollokshields Area Partnership meeting, member Kevin Kane, said: “We have some concerns about the quality of repair work to drains in Queens Square.

“We are worried about the size of the crates which seem to be allowing a lot of material into the drain.
“I also reported a blocked drain at the main bus stop to Strathbungo at the corner of Pollokshaws Road and Nithsdale Drive on October 4, and I don’t believe anything has happened with that."
He told the meeting "you would think someone would be able to sort it but that hasn't happened" and pointed out bus passengers have to dodge water.
A council officer confirmed that the local authority was looking into the drainage situation and would chase a response for the next area partnership meeting.
Baillie Hanif Raja added: “Elected members are always being made aware of the drainage issues and have been for many years.
“I have spoken to the roads department recently and asked them to carry out a survey to see what they can do. There are similar issues on Maxwell Road and households are finding water coming back into their gardens.
“There is a blockage somewhere that needs to be resolved and I think it is time they look into this and do something as this is a serious problem.”
The council officer also confirmed that they would look into the problems affecting the back courts while they continue their mission to employ mechanical sweeps along Maxwell Road and work to clear the leaves blocking the drains.
An update will be presented to the meeting at a later date.
