The Barras market team were left delighted this weekend after their traditional Hong Kong-style street market turned out to be a huge hit.
The iconic venue, which is open every weekend in the Gallowgate, transformed their London Road market for the free event, which saw residents and visitors to Glasgow turn out in droves to try out the food, games and entertainment provided by the Hong Kong traders.
Pictures taken at the event showed the market packed with people as thousands of people visited over both days with organisers stating that they could never have imagined the turnout.
Taking to social media, the delighted organisers thanked everyone who traded and attended the event, posting: "Whilst we are open 52 weeks of the year, we hope that you will agree that this weekend was pretty special.

"We made lots of new friends in the Hong Kong community and reconnected with many old faces who hadn’t been to the market in years. From waffles to whelks, pipers to pineapple cakes, we had something for everyone.
"The authentic home cooking was a HUGE hit, more than we could have ever expected and we (and the traders) thank you for being so patient in the long queues waiting to sample it.
"The biggest thank you goes to our friends @weeunionhk @hongkongmarch for co-organising - the decor was something else!"
Food on both days, which included the likes of Hong Kong street specialities such as curried fish balls, egg bubble waffles and honey beef jerky proved to be hugely popular, selling out completely within both afternoons as huge queues formed.
One trader said it was the "busiest the market had been in 40 years".
Fans are now hoping that the success will lead to similar events and see more people returning to the market more regularly, with people pointing out that the demand for this type of event is quite clearly there.
One visitor wrote: "Brilliant weekend and hope there'll be more in the future! Just love seeing Barras Market bustling."
While another added: "I hope this is going to be at least a monthly thing! It was fab and great seeing the Barras bustling like the good auld days!"
As always there were some complaints, as visitors also perhaps weren't expecting the crowds that turned up with some saying they left due to it being so busy or the food selling out quickly.
Others felt there were some glaring teething problems such as the food queues but acknowledged that the organisers tried to tackle these and took more action on the Sunday.
Overall though, it appears the reaction to the event was hugely positive. What did you think? Did you visit? Did you enjoy it? Let us know in the comments below.
