A Glasgow weapon-wielding robber snared for a bank raid after handing over his card with his name on it has been jailed.
Glasgow Live reported that Scott Ferguson kicked off at the Partick Bank of Scotland branch on September 27 last year. The 36-year-old initially stood in the queue waiting to be served before being called over by a female worker.
The High Court in Glasgow previously heard that he withdrew the balance of his card, a total of £3. Ferguson then said 'one more thing', walked around the counter and added, 'give me the rest of the money.
Prosecutor Michael Macintosh told court that a 'staff member realised he was holding a knife' and yelled for help. The thug rummaged through a cash box, but soon escaped empty handed.

Police were alerted and found the worker to be 'visibly distressed and shaken'.
Mr Macintosh added: "CCTV confirmed the identity of Ferguson by reference to his bank details and comparing the footage of photos police had of him."
Ferguson went on to carry out another knife-point raid that same day at a Farmfoods store in Drumchapel stealing several hundred pounds. Police learned Ferguson was the culprit and initially contacted his mother.
She phoned him while officers were there.
Ferguson said: "I am sorry. I have done a bad thing."
The crook insisted he would hand himself in, but failed to do so. It was later that day he was found at a house in Drumchapel.
He went on to threaten officers after being held.
The court was also told yesterday DNA linked Ferguson to another raid at the Wild Things florist in Scotstoun on March 18 2019. He demanded cash that day and swung a hammer at one of the owners, but again left with nothing.
Ferguson admitted robbing the Farmfood shop as well as attempting to rob the bank and florist. He further plead guilty to an assault charge and resisting police.
Ferguson already had a lengthy criminal record and had been freed early from a previous jail-term at the time. Lord Lake remanded him in custody and adjourned sentencing until next month for reports.
On Monday Ferguson was sentenced via video link from HMP Barlinnie. Court officials told Glasgow Live on Tuesday that he was jailed for 11 years comprising of a six-year custodial sentence and five-year extension.
The sentence started on July 25.
