Today sees the lifting of covid restrictions in Scotland which sees a capacity cap on outdoor events and sports matches come to an end.
The Scottish Government moved to introduce fresh rules for events on Boxing Day due to concern over the rapid spread of the omicron variant of the virus.
Meanwhile, effective from December 27, hospitality venues were ordered to return to table service only, while it was recommended no more than three households meet up in bars and restaurants. Furthermore, nightclubs have not been permitted to open since this date, although Nicola Sturgeon could move to end these restrictions this week. The First Minister is due to give an update in the Scottish Parliament tomorrow.
The FM's planned address comes amid claims from Chief Medical Officer Dr Sir Gregor Smith there are "encouraging" signs in the fight against the omicron variant - echoing First Minister Nicola Sturgeon's statement to MSPs last week that Scotland has "turned a corner".
"What we can now see is fairly distinct, encouraging signs of progress overall in the data, particularly in the case rate," he said.
"It's been unstable for a little while, partly because of the holiday period over Christmas and New Year but also because of the recent changes that we had to testing.
"But it does appear that there's some genuine improvement that sits behind that."
But how has covid impacted the country since those restrictions were imposed on Boxing Day? We take a look at the figures covering both Scotland and Glasgow since December 26.
