The skies above Greater Glasgow have been treated to the rare appearance of an official US Government plane this afternoon.
The Boeing C-40B US Air Force military plane was tracked above Motherwell and Coatbridge before it made a sharp left turn over the Camspies and then landed at Glasgow Airport around 1:30pm.
One avation enthusiast who spotted the plane above Lanark tweeted: "Looks like Uncle Sam may be heading towards Scotland. Eyes on the skies."

It's believed to be the first time such a US Government plane has landed in Glasgow since the COP26 climate summit back in November last year - which saw around 120 world leaders descend on the city.
No details have been provided as to why the plane has landed in Glasgow, however Glasgow Live understands that on board is the Pentagon's Number 2, Deputy Secretary of Defense Dr. Kathleen H. Hicks.
According to Politico, Dr Hicks is on an official visit to Norway, the UK and Germany to meet with senior military and government leaders, including the heads of U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command.
