Glam ITV Corrie stars look a world away from their characters at fancy bash but soap misses out

They're used to hanging out on the cobbles but a few of Coronation Street's favourite stars ditched Weatherfield for an awards bash on Tuesday night - and they looked stunning.

Julia Goulding, Mollie Gallagher, Dolly-Rose Campbell, Tanisha Gorey and Sally Ann Matthews represented the ITV soap at the Royal Television Society (RTS) awards. The do saw Gaham Norton and screenwriter Jack Thorne among those honoured for their outstanding contributions to British television.

Corrie was up for the Soap and Continuing Drama gong at the fancy awards and went up against Channel 4's Hollyoaks and BBC One's Casualty. But it was Hollyoaks that received the nod.

RTS shared on its official Twitter account: "Praised by judges for 'constantly finding new story areas and fresh, relevant narratives', the @Hollyoaks team takes home the Soap and Continuing Drama award! #RTSAwards." Speaking after the win, Loose Women's Kéllé Bryan, who also plays Martine Westwood on the soap, said the cast were "absolutely over the moon," with the win.

Attending the event, Corrie's Julia, who plays Shona Platt, donned an emerald green dress with extravagant sleeves which she paired with a classic black heel. Co-star Mollie, who plays the soap's Nina Lucas, looked worlds away from her on-screen character in a hot pink, silk gown with cowl neck detail which she accessorized with a black belt around the waist while sticking to her darker make-up with black lipstick.

Gemma Winter actress Dolly-Rose also couldn't have looked more different to her Corrie character as she donned a long blue dress with embroidered flower details and let her natural red curls out for the event. Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Rovers landlady, Jenny Connor, went for a similar colour theme to Dolly-Rose, opting for a classic navy blue number with belted and frilled detail that she paired with a simple nude heel and giant silver hooped earrings.

Asha Alahan actress Tanish Gorey completed the Corrie line-up on the blue carpet and looked sensational in a figure-hugging, brown silk dress that featured a thigh-high split which she paired with an open-toed black heel and kept her long dark locks down, styled into curls.

Coronation Street shared some pictures of the five-piece enjoying their night on the soap's official social media pages - including Instagram - with the comment: "All scrubbed up for the #RTSAwards!"

And the compliments came flooding in from the ladies' soap co-stars. Sally Carman, who plays Abi Franklin, said: "Gorgeous gals!" while Toyah Battersby actress Georgia Taylor wrote: "BEAUTS," with both adding plenty of love-heart eye emojis to their comments.

Colson Smith (Craig TInker) shared: "Oh elllo. What a team," as Kel Allen (Laura Neelan) commented: "Blummin’ gorgeous," with a string of flame emojis.

Sally-Ann also shared one of the snaps of the group to her own Instagram page, commenting: "I’m definitely Old Spice x #rtsawards," with Colson joking: "Nice of them to take you out," and Tanisha writing: "love us."
