‘Glad you had a dashcam’: California driver’s footage shows a cyclist randomly blaming and taunting him after another car hit him

A driver in California was reportedly involved in a collision after another vehicle allegedly veered into his lane while passing through an intersection. The incident was captured on a dashcam and shared on a TikTok video by the driver, who goes by the username dylanhascars.

According to the video’s caption, Dylan was driving through the intersection in the right lane when a black sedan, said to be traveling in the left lane, suddenly moved to the right. A red car was reportedly stopped ahead of the sedan at the time.

In the video, the other driver can be heard telling Dylan, “Bro, I checked my mirrors. There was nobody.” Dylan replied, “I… I am here!” The other driver also appeared to accuse Dylan of speeding, which Dylan denied in the caption, stating he was going 37 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone before braking.

Cyclist accused of weighing in without seeing the crash occur

As the two drivers argued, a cyclist who had apparently been nearby approached the scene. According to the footage, the cyclist told Dylan not to yell and then blamed him for the collision. Dylan’s dashcam showed that the cyclist’s head was turned away at the exact moment of impact, suggesting he may not have actually witnessed the crash happen. Dashcam footage has increasingly become central to resolving disputes between drivers, as seen in other cases where drivers caught unusual moments on camera while on the road.

Dylan can be seen attempting to explain his side, but the cyclist did not appear to change his position. The cyclist said, “Everybody saw it,” multiple times in what was described as a sarcastic tone before riding away.

The other driver was heard repeating that he did not see Dylan’s car in his mirror, and at one point appeared to acknowledge hitting him. Both drivers calmed down following the exchange. He can be heard saying, “Okay, that’s all. I need your insurance,” to which the other driver agreed. Dashcams have also captured far more severe incidents in the past, including footage some viewers have compared to other dramatic roadside and aviation incidents caught on camera.

The video drew a range of reactions from viewers in the comments section. One commenter wrote, “you were not fault. glad you had a dash cam.” Another wrote, “i didn’t see you in my mirrors’ is enough to admit fault.”

Other commenters questioned why the situation escalated into an argument at all, given the presence of dashcam footage. One commenter wrote, “Why argue. You have a camera.” A separate commenter also pointed out a possible traffic rule, writing, “You’re also not supposed to turn into another lane when going through an intersection.” It remains unclear from available information what prompted the cyclist to intervene in the dispute.
