Newcastle United suffered yet another FA Cup upset after they were condemned to a 2-1 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The Magpies have been eliminated at the third round stage in each of their last three seasons. Josh Windass scored twice in the second half, and also hit the crossbar with a free-kick from range.
Bruno Guimaraes reduced the deficit but Newcastle couldn't find that all-important equaliser as Chris Wood blazed a gilt-edged chance over.
Eddie Howe made eight changes from the side that drew 0-0 against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Monday. However, many of the fringe players failed to impress, as Newcastle saw their 15-match unbeaten run across all competitions come to an end.
