Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has been spotted in floods of tears amid reports her marriage to sport superstar Tom Brady is on the rocks.
The 42-year-old Brazilian model has been married to 45-year-old American football legend Tom since 2009 and together they have two children; son Benjamin, 12, and nine-year-old daughter Vivian - while Tom also has a 15-yer-old son named John from a previous relationship and Gisele is his stepmother.
But the marriage is said to have been rocked in recent months by explosive arguments and reports suggest the attractive pair are no longer living together.
The source of the tension is said to be the fact that Tom un-retired from professional American football after previously retiring in February this year, only to return to training the following month.
PageSix has suggested that the relationship is far from being repaired, as Gisele has been spotted in tears in New York as headlines and speculation swirl about the couple.
A source told the outlet: “Gisele was walking on her own on the West Side, crying into her mobile phone.”
It was also reported the model was seen looking in distress while out walking in the New York neighbourhood where she shares an apartment with her husband on Wednesday.
A further source suggested to PageSix that Gisele was in tears while on the phone with Tom - who is currently based in Tampa, Florida, training for the upcoming season.
While a further source claimed Gisele is upset that her recent Elle magazine cover shoot and interview has hit stands at a time when her marriage is in crisis and has been spun to focus on her troubled romance.
The source said: “Gisele wanted the story to be about her career and her environmental work. But all the focus from the media was on her quotes about Tom.”
Some have highlighted the fact that Gisele’s interview gives a possible insight into the source of her conflict with Tom.
At one point in her interview, she said: “This is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present."
She added: “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again.”
And concluded: “But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”
Earlier this week, reports claimed Tom and Gisele are “living separately”.
Back in February, Brady - a seven-time Super Bowl champion - retired from the NFL after 22 years. However, he made a swift u-turn on his decision and returned amid much fanfare before taking an unprecedented 11-day 'leave of absence' in the middle of training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with his absence labeled as 'personal reasons'.
