PATNA: Girls once again outsmarted boys by bagging as many as 25 out of the 38 gold medals awarded to the toppers of postgraduate examinations at Patna University annual convocation on Saturday. Altogether 1330 scholars passed the postgraduate examinations in 2018-20 sessions of whom 732 are girls. A total of 312 scholars were awarded PhD degrees on the occasion.
Education minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary lauded the girls’ performance. The initiatives of the Nitish Kumar government have started bearing fruits and very soon the state will become a model of women’s empowerment in the world, he said. He asked the universities to regularize their academic calendars and clear the backlog of pending examinations.
