Missing girls, aged 8, found safely after police launched search for pair

Two missing eight-year-old girls who were reported missing earlier today have been found safe.

Police launched a search for Ava and Aubree, who were believed to be in the Guisborough area of Redcar and Cleveland, North Yorkshire.

Cleveland Police issued their appeal this morning in a series of tweets, sparking the help of members of the public who shared their appeal more than 5,000 times in an anxious attempt to help.

The force has now reassured: "Missing Ava and Aubree have now been located safely.

"Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal - there were almost 5,000 shares on Facebook alone!"

One relieved member of the public said: "Brilliant news glad they have been found safe and well big hugs to the girls and their families xx."

Another added: "What a relief! So glad! How absolutely terrifying it must have been!"
