A mother has told of her "absolute nightmare" as her partner remains fighting for his life in hospital following a 30ft fall from their balcony in Lanzarote.
Ashleigh Lomas, 30, says she and kids Daisy, eight, and three-year-old Daniel are missing Dan Boyle as he continues to battle in hospital - around six weeks after the accident.
His heart had stopped on the balcony of their hotel - hours after he, Ashleigh and Ashleigh's sister and her partner had landed on the Canary Island.
Dan had to be resuscitated on the pavement and now has a fractured skull, a fractured breast bone and ribs.
"It's just an absolute nightmare," Ashleigh, who lives with Dan and their children in Stockport, Greater Manchester, said.
"It's something that you would never expect to happen to you. Our children are just missing him, they just want him home."
Dan was flown to Gran Canaria after initial treatment. He has had brain surgery, an operation on his kidney and was put in an induced coma for four weeks.
While he is no out of the coma, the dad of two cannot communicate properly.
Doctors had discovered Dan had undiagnosed pneumonia, which they believe caused his lungs to fill with fluid and made his heart stop beating on April 23.
Ashleigh, who has been in a relationship with Dan for 12 years, said the accident happened minutes after the couple were "laughing and joking".
"He was perfectly fine. We was in the pool together half an hour before, laughing and joking," Ashleigh, a bartender, continued.
"He had a little cough but we didn't think it was anything.
"It wasn't a constant cough, it was just a little one, so you obviously wouldn't think anything of it."
Doctors have told Ashleigh they think Dan will have "really bad" damage to his brain, but they know the full extent until he is fully awake, she said.
He will also need a specialist flight back to the UK, which will cost around £35,000.
Their insurance has covered the hospital bills but won't cover the flight home.
Ashleigh is now raising money for the flight so he can "get the care that he needs" back home.
She said: "It would mean everything for him to come home, everything would be so much easier for everybody.
"He will be able to be around people who he knows and get the care that he needs."
