A four-year-old girl was tragically killed when she was savaged to the death by her neighbour’s three dogs as the owner allegedly watched on.
Lea Freeman, also known as Lea Janae, was left dead after the horrific dog attack in Dallas, USA.
The incident was said to have happened at around 8am local time on Saturday, according to police.
The youngster was rushed to hospital but despite the best efforts of medics she tragically died.
Neighbours allege that a woman was watching little Lea was outside when her dogs attacked the youngster.
They said that her mum only got back from the shops after the attack.
Her mum Tiara Freeman told KXAS-TV that she, Lea and her two other children had stayed in the house with a woman.
On the day of the attack she had gone to the store, asking the other woman to take care of the children.
She said: “She's just a playful little girl. She's just my little angel.
"When I went to get my wallet, my baby was just fine, she was sweet, she saw me leave, she asked where I was going, I said 'I'm going to the store real quick, I'll be right back, I'll back.' I come home, and this happens".
The mum also described what she found when she came back.
She recalled how she screamed: "'Oh my God Lea!' I go around the corner and I'm like ' Lea no!'
"I'm crying, picking up my baby and I'm getting bitten by the dogs".
Michael Pennington, who lives nearby, said: "The baby was messed up, man. I don’t, I don’t like to talk about it because I can’t hold myself in”.
Michael and his wife claimed the neighbour had had trouble with aggressive dogs in the past.
Speaking to Fox News he added: "I hear dogs in there. I thought the dogs was fighting because they had a fight the night before, two days before.
"But it was the baby the dogs got on, that baby.”
His wife Lorrie said that their niece had been attacked and her jacket grabbed by one of the dogs before.
She said: "One day me and my niece pulled up out here and she came up by the garage.
"She was coming up the driveway and the dog came from over there and grabbed her by the jacket, but he didn’t get a chance to actually bite her because he grabbed her jacket”.
The neighbour who made the 911 call said they believed three dogs were involved in the attack, but Dallas Animal Services only took one into custody.
There’s no word on if it will be euthanised.
A Texas Department of Family and Protective Services spokeswoman said the family of the girl has been involved with Child Protective Services in the past.
The agency is investigating the girl’s death.
Lea’s family are now fundraising money in the aftermath of her horrific death. They have so far raised almost £3,000.
On the appeal, organised by Tiffany Freeman, Lea was said to love baking and playing with her sisters.
She was “always waking up with a smile, she could ease the greatest of pain and her laugh was contagious. She would flip and split her way into your heart.
“She would sing a song, ‘My name is Lea Bea, it nice to meet ya’.....our precious baby Lea it was sooooooo nice to meet you.
“To have the pleasure to be in your life. To love you. To hold you. To see your smile. To watch you ride a bike. To bake cookies.
“To play during bath time. To open Christmas presents.
"To be apart of your sweet and precious four years life.
"We will ALWAYS LOVE and cherish our Lea' Janae a*k*a Kissy.”
