A 'short inspection' carried out by Ofsted in May 2019 said the school, judged 'good' in 2013, had 'maintained the good quality of education'.

The report said: "Pupils who spoke with inspectors report they feel safe in school. Staff agree that pupils are safe. Pupils learn about how to look after their own emotional health and how to stay safe. For instance, pupils learn about the dangers of knife crime and the possible negative effects of social media."

The school on Wilmslow Road has a sixth form and about 1,900 pupils aged 11 to 18 on the roll.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police on Tuesday night said: "Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of an incident at a school at Parrs Wood High School, Wilmslow Road in East Didsbury at around 1.10pm this afternoon, Tuesday 24 January 2023.

"Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service also attended the scene, where a 14-year-old girl had sustained serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, believed to have been caused by a sharp instrument.
