A 15-year-old girl found out she had been banned from her prom two days before the event - having spent close to £1,000 on a dress, alterations, hair, nails, make-up and a ticket. The girl is said to have been in tears when she was told, by voicemail, she would not be allowed to attend her school prom alongside her fellow Year 11 pupils.
Three weeks ago, the girl's grandmother paid £35 for a ticket for her granddaughter to go to prom, believing she would be allowed to attend. And now the 15-year-old will never get to wear her baby blue prom dress, which cost £495, as well as £50 for alterations, reports ChronicleLive.
Her grandma said: "We know she was no angel, we're aware that she's had issues at school before. She can be a bit mouthy but she's dead loving and caring and she'd help anybody.
