A pupil at Greenbank High School in Southport was found with a knife in school on March 22. The ECHO was made aware of the incident by a parent who passed on information regarding the incident from the school, adding it was "very worrying".
An email seen by the ECHO from the school's headteacher said although the concerning issue was a "very rare incident," the school was investigating with the "utmost urgency and the relevant steps are being taken".
The full email dated from today read: "I am writing to make you aware that yesterday one of our pupils was found with a knife in school. Please be assured that this is a very rare incident and is being investigated with the utmost urgency and the relevant steps are being taken.
"It is a reminder of the importance of talking to young people about knives and that carrying a knife is a criminal offence that poses a risk of harm to the individual and the community. I will do a brief assembly with all pupils regarding this in the morning and there are planned sessions on knife crime after the Spring break.
"As ever, it is key to work together to support young people with this and would ask that all parents and carers regularly discuss this aspect of your child’s safety with them."
Dad stole 60 iPads for sick children from Alder Hey hospital
A former IT worker at Alder Hey hospital stole 60 iPads destined for sick children and their families.
Mohammed Moosbally helped himself to nearly £29,000 of the hospital's equipment in a "despicable" series of burglaries. The dad-of-two flogged the devices then spent the cash on cocaine and accommodation when sleeping rough.
But the 54-year-old was today spared jail after a court heard of his personal difficulties - including PTSD brought on by the Hillsborough disaster.
Alder Hey took delivery of 100 new unboxed iPads, bought at a cost of £48,000 in total, on May 26 last year. Liverpool Crown Court heard the hospital intended to give them to sick children in a scheme set to launch in November.
Derek Jones, prosecuting, said they were to be loaned to children whose families couldn't afford IT equipment and used for online consultations with staff. Mr Jones added: "An important consequence of these online consultations would mean the children would miss a lot less school."
Alder Hey rented a shipping container from Merseyside Police in the secure car park of Eaton Road Police Station in West Derby. Using an identity pass, key fob and codes, hospital staff could enter an office there where the keys to the container were held in a safe.
But when hospital IT staff went to the container on November 10, Mr Jones said they discovered "every single one of those 100 iPads was missing". Staff used Apple software to send a message to the iPads - appearing on the login screen - saying they belonged to Alder Hey.
Jet2 passengers cheer as armed police escort woman off flight
This is the shocking moment a woman was escorted off a Jet2 flight by armed police after screaming and swearing at staff.
The woman was seen screaming while pacing up and down the flight and reportedly slapped other passengers before the plane had to be diverted. Those on board can be heard cheering in the video as the woman is escorted off the aircraft following her foul-mouthed rant.
The flight to Antalya left Manchester Airport at around 9.15am on Monday and was due to arrive in Turkey around four and a half hours later. It was diverted to Vienna and landed there around 11.40am, reports Yorkshire Live.
A video filmed on a mobile phone of the disruptive passenger, reported to be from Kirklees in Yorkshire, has now emerged showing her shouting at uniformed staff in the aisle.
A member of staff can be seen telling her to 'stand back', to which she replies: "I am back. Sort your head out you." The airline worker says: "You are not doing yourself any favours."
She replies: "You're not doing yourself any favours either. So what have I done? Don't touch me, don't ****ing touch me." She adds: "What have I done? What have I done wrong on this flight, eh? See, you haven't got an answer."
