A little girl was diagnosed with an incurable disease so rare even a nurse had never heard of it after her doting mum observed her daughter's eyes flickering.
Claire Bradshaw was the first to spot nine-year-old Kaycee's unusual symptom after at first fearing her daughter was deaf because she did not speak properly by the age of four.
Claire, 49, told the Liverpool Echo that her daughter would have fits and would break her teeth and bones from falling to the floor without the mobility to stop herself.
