A schoolgirl was bitten by a snake while out enjoying an Easter picnic with her family. The eight-year-old's hand swelled after the adder attack and she had to be rushed to hospital over the bank holiday weekend.
The youngster was injured at Kinver Edge, on the border of Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Black Country on Saturday, April 16. She needed an intravenous infusion of anti-venom serum.
The Kings Heath school pupil -who has not been named - was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, she is now doing well, but is currently being kept under observation by doctors as a precaution.
