A seven-year has been rushed to hospital “critically injured” after being rescued from a pool in Majorca.

One local report is describing her as Irish and another says she is British.

The youngster has been taken to Son Espases Hospital in the Majorcan capital Palma.

The hotel she was rushed to hospital from has been named as the four star HYB Eurocalas Hotel in the east coast resort of Calas de Mallorca.

It describes itself online as an all-inclusive family-friendly aparthotel a ten-minute stroll from the beach.

Local reports said lifeguards had spotted her lying motionless on the bottom of the pool and jumped in to drag her out of the water before performing CPR on her because she had gone into cardiac arrest.

Paramedics continued to try to revive her after reaching the scene and got her breathing again. She has been admitted to a paediatric intensive care unit at Son Espases Hotel.

The alarm was raised just after 3.30pm on Monday.

A receptionist at the hotel said she was unable to make any comment for the time being.

No-one was immediately available for comment at Son Espases Hospital or the local police or National Police who are understood to have organised a special operation to get the youngster to hospital as quickly as possible.
