A little girl was attacked by a pitbull dog while out enjoying the sun at the beach with her family.
The six-year-old needed medical treatment after the horror attack which took place in Edinburgh, Scotland, on Friday.
She was walking with her family on Cramond Beach when the black dog knocked her over and attacked her face on Friday evening.
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after the youngster's terrifying ordeal, reports Edinburgh Live.
She was walking along the coast with three teenagers, all who are related to her, when disaster struck, they confirmed.
The dog pounced on the youngster at around 5pm while she was playing and left her with bites to her face, arms and body.
Its owner, described as white and around 60 years old, failed to help the victim and instead left the scene.
He is described as being of average build and is believed to be 6ft tall, police said.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a red baseball cap, blue jeans and a long black coat.

Owning or breeding pitbulls was banned in the UK by the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991.
The government decided to ban the breed in response to a slew of incidents involving vicious, often unprovoked attacks on humans.
It followed 15 fatal dog attacks in England and Wales between 1981 and 1991.
