Police have arrested a 13-year-old girl on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 50s was found dead at her home in Wiltshire.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance at a house in Baydon Close, in the Moredon area of Swindon, at around 7pm on Friday, November 21.
Upon arrival, officers found the woman at the address was not breathing and she was declared dead at the scene, despite the efforts of emergency services.
A cordon has been set up around the property while inquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances around the woman’s death.
A teenage girl was arrested and has been taken into custody for questioning.
DI Darren Ambrose from the major crime investigation team said: “This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died.
“We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. This is likely to remain in place overnight and throughout tomorrow.
“I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else.
“We would encourage people not to speculate on the circumstances around this incident.
“We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.”
